Information for parents and whānau
Kōkiri Lab is a STEM inquiry platform used in participating schools. Students investigate real-world questions, collect evidence, use the makerspace, and build a portfolio of scientific thinking — not worksheets or skills-drill apps.
What students do
- Pose questions and measure variables in guided STEM studies
- Build claims, explanations, and revisions from their own data
- Design and test prototypes in the school makerspace
- Reflect on their thinking using the VOICE inquiry framework
Research participation
The platform supports a PhD research programme on digital inquiry learning. Student participation in research is optional and requires separate consent. Teachers may also optionally consent to dashboard usage being included in research.
