What evidence can we gather?
Students encounter the phenomenon, build the knowledge needed to interpret it, and gather evidence directly. Inquiry is the vehicle through which disciplinary knowledge is taught, used and made meaningful, not a substitute for teaching that knowledge directly.
Measuring speed across trials in Robotics & Systems, comparing adaptations and cell structures in Biodiversity & Discovery, recording light, temperature and soil composition in Ecosystem Health & Restoration, gathering months of lunar data in Earth Systems & Space: each world starts with real evidence.
VOICE (Venture In, Observe, Infer, Create, Evaluate) is an instructional heuristic that helps organise inquiry moment to moment. It mainly operates within STEM Investigate and Think & Create.
Asking students to diagnose what went wrong with an unfair test, and propose a fix, is a more genuinely scientific task than labelling variables in someone else's investigation.
