What explanations, models or designs can we construct?
Students interpret evidence, form explanations, and generate design or model ideas, articulating and comparing their thinking with others. Students construct explanations and defend them, not simply report a completed task.
Models and designs
System diagrams with inputs, outputs and feedback; food webs; models of the Moon's phases; a design framework applied to a real home; the rules and feedback loops of a playable world.
Talk that builds understanding
Extended conversations where students build and justify understanding, with the teacher facilitating rather than informing.
