Share a behaviour protocol

A protocol is a numbered recipe. The robot helps you do science — you still decide what fair testing means.

  1. Name the behaviour

e.g. “Read temperature every 30 minutes overnight” — not “cool robot v3”.

  2. State your science question

    What evidence does this produce?

  3. Number every step

    Setup → calibrate → run → record → shutdown.

  4. Say how many trials

Ten repeats is a common school standard.

  5. Calibration notes

Home position, sensor zero, timing drift.

  6. Safety notes

Water, batteries, pinch points, adult required?

Tips & safety

  • Examples: Overnight pH log · arm returns to same spot · line follow with pauses.
  • Do not share: Passwords, Wi-Fi details, or tricks that disable safety stops.
  • Hardware honesty: Say LEGO, Arduino, or Pi — write so others can adapt.

Numbered steps another team could follow. Purpose states the science question first.
