How can we test or improve them?
Students build, test, and revise, whether a physical outcome, a digital artefact, or a documented explanation. Designing and building is treated as a cycle of framing, testing, evaluating and revising.
Testing that can change your mind
Testing whether a model predicts an observed Moon phase, whether a monitoring approach reliably detects change, or whether an intervention has the effect you predicted, then revising in response.
A failed model is still evidence
A model that fails to behave as expected is still a valuable source of evidence, as long as you can explain where and why it failed.
